You may be familiar with boarding your pet if you have to go out of town for an extended period of time, but what if you’re just gone during the day? Dogs are sociable creatures and can get lonely when no one is home. That’s understandably when the mischief starts as Fido tries to amuse himself by gnawing on your favorite pair of shoes, or showing his displeasure at being alone by leaving “love offerings” throughout the house.
But what can you do? You can’t put him in a crate all day—he needs to run around and play. You could arrange for someone to walk or feed him during the day, but that short period of interaction isn’t enough to keep your dog healthy and happy.
One option is pet daycare. Just like daycare for kids, a daycare for dogs provides hours of interaction and stimulation in a supervised, safe environment.
At Dogwood Veterinary Hospital Pet Resort, our Doggy Daycare is an extension of our longer- term pet resort.
For dogs that need additional attention, supervision or companionship during the day, this is the perfect environment. Your pet can enjoy a structured group playtime, supervised by expertly trained team members. Whether your dog would like to burn off energy in our spacious and tidy play yards, or explore the climate controlled, bright indoor playrooms, your pet will be entertained.
When it’s time for a break from all the fun, your dog can rest on clean bedding, and have plenty of water and snacks.
It can take a little time for a dog to become used to a new environment, and we work to get to know your pet’s personality while gradually introducing him into group play, and supervising the transition.
In order to ensure all of our guests are safe, we require that your pet is current on rabies, DHP, and Bordetella (for kennel cough) vaccines, has a current heartworm and deworming test and if your dog more than a year old, has been spayed or neutered.
One advantage of our service is that we have an expert veterinary staff available should your dog have any special needs. And, if you are unexpectedly delayed at the end of the day and cannot pick up your pet, no worries! Your dog can stay in our pet resort for the night (nightly boarding rates apply), where he will continue to enjoy a loving environment, food and water, fresh bedding, a walk and a good petting before bed.
