Returning daycare guests can enjoy an expedited check-in process as long as no additional time is needed to discuss vaccine and testing requirements or special needs.
We perform a complimentary temperament test on all dogs prior to introduction into daycare. This gives us a chance to get to know your pup’s personality while slowly introducing them to the group-play environment. From there, we can appropriately place your pet in a group that will best suit their personality and energy level. Safety comes first! Dogwood Veterinary Hospital & Pet Resort reserves the right to refuse group play to your dog if any aggressive behavior is exhibited. Dogs, like people, may have a bad day or not get along with certain dogs. If our staff observes this, we may remove your dog from the group for a break. If the behavior appears to be a trend, we will discuss our concerns with you in detail. Our daycare program is designed only for well socialized, well mannered guests. Thank you for your understanding!
To participate in Dogwood Daycare, your pet must be current on the following vaccines and tests:
- Influenza
- Rabies
- DHP (distemper/parvovirus)
- Bordetella (biannual)
- Fecal test or deworming (biannual)
All dogs over the age of 12 months must be spayed or neutered in order to participate in daycare.
Proof of the above listed requirements must be obtained prior to your dog’s admittance into the daycare program. Let one of our Client Service Specialists take care of obtaining that information for you! Just provide us with your primary veterinarian’s information. If your pet is not current on any of the requirements listed above, we will notify you prior to drop off whenever possible. As a full-service medical facility, we can also update any requirements during your pet’s visit with us.
All guests will be screened for fleas and ticks upon arrival. If external parasites are noted, treatment will be administered and charges will apply (rates are based on weight of the pet).
If your pet has not been picked up from daycare by 5:30pm, your pet can stay with us overnight. Nightly boarding rates will apply. Our staff will provide your pet with a suite, fresh bedding, water and food before walking them and tucking them in for the night. We understand that unforeseeable circumstances may cause you to run behind. If you think you may be late picking up, just give us a call so that we can be prepared.
All dogs over the age of twelve months must be spayed or neutered in order to participate in daycare.
Until fully vaccinated against Distemper, Rabies and Bordetella, puppies under the age of 16 weeks will not be allowed to participate in daycare.
Dogwood Veterinary Hospital & Pet Resort will practice diligence to ensure the safety, well being, and happiness of every dog in our Daycare program. However, there are certain risks associated with allowing the freedom of dogs interacting with other dogs. Even with constant supervision, nips, scratches, muscle soreness, disease, and dog fights may occur. We encourage your awareness and understanding of the risks involved.
Dogwood Daycare is not offered on the following holidays. Space is often limited on the dates directly prior to and following a holiday – please call to reserve your pet’s spot in daycare! We may not always be able to offer daycare around our peak holidays.
